NEW YORK — The Knicks City Dancers will soon have a little competition when it comes to entertaining basketball fans in the Big Apple.

The Brooklyn Nets will hold open auditions for their new dance team at noon on Saturday, June 2 at Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus, the team announced today.

Dancers vying for a shot at halftime stardom must be 18 or older and have at least eight years of technical dance training.

Those who attend the audition are encouraged to wear "fitted attire" and either sneakers or dance shoes and to arrive in "performance-ready hair and makeup."

Those dancers who make the cut will perform at all Brooklyn Nets home games at the 18,000-seat Barclays Center, which is scheduled to open later this year. They will also be required to represent the team at both local and international events, the team said.

The auditions will be held on June 2 at the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center at the LIU Brooklyn campus, located at 161 Ashland Place. Registration begins at 11 a.m., and the auditions start at noon.

The new Barclays Center is slated to open in the fall.
