Body Discovered on Tracks at Sixth Avenue Subway Station

WEST VILLAGE — The body of a man was found on the tracks at the Sixth Avenue subway station on West 14th Street, officials said.

The unidentified man was discovered about 10:30 a.m. on the northbound tracks, transit and FDNY officials said.

An MTA worker at the scene said the man may have been homeless.

It was not immediately clear if the man was struck by a train.

The FDNY cut the power at the station while they searched for the body and investigated.

Kevin Ortiz, a spokesman for the the MTA, said the death was under investigation.

He added that southbound trains were temporarily running express between 34th Street and West 4th Street.
