BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man who assaulted a livery cab driver in Brooklyn last Saturday.

The driver picked up a 200-pound man about 4:15 a.m. at Wilhmor Street and Rockaway Parkway, who asked to be taken to Church and Utica avenues. During the ride, he demanded money and then assaulted the driver, police said.

The driver was eventually able to stop the vehicle. But when he did so, his alleged assailant threw him out of the cab. The suspect then drove off with the car and crashed it into an unoccupied parked car at Linden Boulevard and 43rd Street, according to police.

He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The driver refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is believed to be 30 to 35 years old with a bald head and beard.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. You can also submit a tip by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting your tips to 274637(CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
