QUEENS — A school bus returning from a field trip was rear-ended in Glen Oaks Wednesday, leaving eight children hurt, officials said.

The bus, headed to P.S./I.S. 266Q at 74-10 Commonwealth Blvd., was hit in the back just after 1:30 p.m. at the Cross Island Parkway near Union Turnpike, a Department of Education official said.

"The bus was hit in the rear as it was making a right turn," said Marge Feinberg, an education spokeswoman.

Eight children were injured, including seven victims on the school bus, an FDNY spokesman said. The other child was in the second vehicle, he said.

The victims were taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital, the fire spokesman said. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, he said.
