QUEENS — A man was struck and killed by a train at an Elmhurst train station during rush hour Tuesday morning, officials said.

The victim was hit by a Manhattan-bound E train at the 74th Street and Roosevelt Avenue station about 9:10 a.m., said Kevin Ortiz, a spokesman for the MTA.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, an FDNY spokesman said.

E and F trains were running on local lines between 71st Avenue and Queens Plaza, and skipping 74th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in both directions, Ortiz said.

Several passengers had to be evacuated from a Manhattan-bound E train at Queens Plaza, witnesses said. Passengers were ferried through the cars of the train — which was stopped midway into a tunnel — and onto the platform.

The victim has not been identified.
