OZONE PARK — A Queens state senator wants the city to assign more police near the recently opened Aqueduct racino to address what he calls a "dire need" for law enforcement.

Sen. Joe Addabbo said Ozone Park's 106th Precinct needs more cops, since the Resorts World Racino has drawn more than 100,000 additional visitors a week to the relatively quiet, suburban neighborhood.

He also noted that local crime has recently increased, and that a proposed convention center would bring even more people to the area.

"I believe we are in dire need of additional officers," Addabbo wrote in a Feb. 8 letter to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly that was released on Friday.

Addabbo also wrote that existing cops are "doing an outstanding job with limited resources."
