Madonna Badger Fire Investigation Delayed Until Mid-February

MANHATTAN — The investigation into the tragic Stamford, Conn. fire that killed Manhattan advertising executive Madonna Badger's parents and three young daughters will not conclude this week, as was expected, according to a report.

The Stamford Police Department will need another week and a half to finish looking into the fatal Christmas morning blaze and will likely be done by mid-February, the Hartford Courant reported.

The investigation was delayed while police waited for reports from the local fire marshal and buildings department, Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin told the Courant.

While police have been discussing the case with a prosecutor, it is not yet clear whether anyone will be charged.

Discarded fireplace ashes placed near the entrance of the 100-year-old Stamford mansion reportedly sparked the early-morning fire that killed Lily Badger, 9, and her twin 7-year-old sisters, Grace and Sarah Badger, along with their grandparents Lomer and Pauline Johnson.

Madonna Badger escaped from the burning house with her boyfriend, Michael Borcina.

Police have questioned staff employed by a contractor who did renovation work on the $1.7 million house before the fire.

The house reportedly had no working smoke detectors.
