Van Bursts Into Flames in Foley Square

A car burst into flame in front of the Manhattan Federal Building on Thursday

MANHATTAN — A van burst into flames in front of Foley Square Thursday afternoon, across from Manhattan's court houses.

The vehicle was reported on fire at 1:52 p.m. at 1 Federal Plaza, an FDNY spokesman said. Witnesses reported clouds of gray and black smoke visible from blocks away.

One fire engine and one ladder truck responded to the fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
