QUEENS — Police are looking for a mugger who pretended to be a police officer in order to rob a man on Christmas morning.

The suspect allegedly stopped a 50-year-old man behind a house at 35-38 96th St. in Corona about 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 25, 2011 and told the victim he was a police officer, NYPD officials said.

The alleged mugger then searched the victim and stole his watch and wallet, before fleeing, police said.

Police released an image of the suspect, who they believe is 5-feet-6-inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, log onto www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or text tips to 274637(CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
