DYKER HEIGHTS — A mentally disturbed Army soldier who escaped from a veterans hospital in Brooklyn Tuesday morning has been captured, police said.

The soldier, 38, somehow slipped out of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System at 800 Poly Place in Dyker Heights early Tuesday, police said. He fled in a 2001 gray Audi, police said.

The unidentified patient was found a short time later, police said. It was unclear how he was captured, but police said he was being returned to the hospital.

No one was injured during the escape.

The hospital did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
