MANHATTAN — A 30-year-old Harlem man suspected of fatally shooting a Lower East Side man in September 2010 has been charged with murder, police said Thursday.

Pierre Hecker, of Harlem, was arrested for the Sept. 1, 2010, shooting death of Anthony Evans, 28, a resident of the Alfred E. Smith Houses.

Hecker was charged with second-degree murder in the Madison Street killing, cops said.

Police believe Hecker shot Evans in the head, arm and chest about 3 a.m. that day.

Hecker has been on the lam ever since. It was unclear how cops caught him, but the NYPD had asked for the public's help tracking him down through Crime Stoppers.

Police canvas the scene for evidence at 46 Madison St. after 28-year-old Anthony Evans was shot to death early on Sept. 1, 2010. (DNAinfo/Ben Fractenberg)
