MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS — A 22-year-old Columbia University student who disappeared for four days has been found safe, a school spokesman said late Monday.

Police had been investigating the disappearance of Jacob Inwood, an undergraduate at Columbia College from Millburn, N.J., who was reported missing by his parents on Dec. 17, four days after he boarded a train from his hometown on his way back to school.

Inwood was scheduled to return to the Ivy League campus on the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 14, but never showed up, according to an alert from Columbia University's public safety office.

The NYPD, New Jersey police and Columbia's public safety office investigated Inwood's disappearance, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
