'Men in Black III' Trailer Brings Will Smith Back to Manhattan

By Della Hasselle | December 12, 2011 3:24pm

MANHATTAN — New York City is once again a featured player in the latest installment of the "Men in Black" franchise, bringing superstar Will Smith back to Manhattan armed to fight Earth-invading aliens with his "little flasher memory-messer-upper thingy."

The recently released trailer for "Men in Black III," which won't hit theaters until Memorial Day 2012, features plenty of shots of Manhattan's skyline, including Smith's character Agent J jumping off of the iconic Chrysler Building while attempting to time-travel to find his former boss, Agent K, played by Tommy Lee Jones.

Oscar-nominated "Milk" actor Josh Brolin plays a young Agent K in the latest film, which is based on a Marvel Comics comic book series by Lowell Cunningham.

For those who missed the hit 1997 original, it follows Smith and Jones' characters as they try to keep stave off extraterrestrial warfare among New York's hidden aliens.

But the actor wasn't nearly as popular among New Yorkers this past spring, when he made headlines after the mayor's office ordered him to relocate his massive movie trailer and portable gym away from the SoHo set of "Men in Black 3" in the middle of filming.

The request to move came after neighbors complained about crews taking over the intersection of Broome and Greene streets, blocking traffic and pedestrian walkways.
