SOHO — A man was in critical condition after jumping onto the M train tracks at the Broadway-Lafayette Street subway station Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The unidentified 28-year-old was pulled from beneath a Downtown M train by emergency crews shortly after 12 p.m. and transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical but stable condition, police and fire officials said.
Witnesses said they saw the man bloodied but conscious on the tracks after he jumped.
“His head was busted up. He was bleeding all over the place," said witness Jeremy Peralta, 25, of the Lower East Side. "It all happened so fast."
Queens-bound M trains were suspended between 34th and Essex streets as a result of the incident, and southbound F trains were running on the A line between West 4th Street and Jay Street-MetroTech in Brooklyn, an MTA spokesman said.
