'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' Sucks in Thousands of Manhattan Moviegoers

MIDTOWN — Thousands of vampire fans flocked to theaters Friday morning in Manhattan to see actor Robert Pattinson continue his onscreen romance with actress Kirsten Stewart in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1."

The series is based on the bestselling “Twilight” novels by Stephanie Meyer and contains all the ingredients for a money-making popcorn flick — vampires, werewolves and, of course, angst-filled teen romance.

“I got my ticket three weeks ago,” said Marcia Williams, a 48-year-old Bronx resident. “[I'm not] joking about Twilight.”

The major drawing card for fans this time around is when the vampire Edward ties the knot with the main character Bella to the delight of fans and disdain of movie critics.

“No one is cuter then Edward,” said Jazmin, a 28-year-old pharmaceutical technician who saw the 10 a.m. screening of the movie in Midtown.

Nursing student Shana Clark said she feels a personal connection with Pattinson's young, strapping vampire.

"He’s so romantic,” gushed the 28-year-old Clark. “The way he talks, and when he looks into your eyes you’re like, OK, he is talking to me.”

Stewart, who plays Bella, got good reviews from one Brooklyn resident.

“She (Stewart) had more charisma in this movie,” said Elaine Honegham. ”She was feisty in this role.”

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" marks the beginning of the end for teenage vampire movie series. It's the fourth movie overall and is based on the first half of the final book in the "Twilight" series. Hollywood will put a stake into the heart of the series when the final movie is released in theaters in November 2012.
