Fashion Week Looks in Minutes, with Three Hairstyle Options

By Serena Solomon | September 9, 2011 6:33am

MIDTOWN — Models aren't the only ones who need to look their best this week.

If you are a spectator at Fashion Week, DNAinfo.com and Alma G. Salon and Spa bring you three quick, easy and fashionable hair styles.

"This is perfect for girls with fine hair, thick hair," said Alma Qeraxhiu, the owner of the salon, located at 38 E. 21st Street, between Broadway and Park Avenue.  "You can go to a wedding with these hairstyles, you can have it with jeans."

The veteran hair stylist of 16 years has honed her skills on celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and Jennifer Missoni. To transform your look from long hair to a bob, a trendy high bun or American Indian inspired ponytails, five minutes is all it takes to add some style to your week, according to Qeraxhiu.

"It's easy," said Qeraxhiu. "You can do this everyday."

Below are step-by-step instructions to complement the instructional video:

Geisha Inspired high bun

What you need: Hair spray and bobby pins.

1. Tease the top front of hair at the roots. Use hair spray.

2. Gather all hair as if to put in a high ponytail.

3. Twist hair, and then twirl around base to create a bun.

4. Fasten with pins. Put them in at an angle as it will hold the hair better.

5. Allow the bun to be a little messy for style.

6. Twist and clip the base of hair that leads into bun to add texture and body to hair that is not in the bun. You can do this all around the head if needed.

7. Add accessories where desired.

1940s Pin-up Bob

What you need: Small teasing comb, bobby pins and hair spray.

1. Divide hair into three sections.

2. Tease the hair underneath to give you more control of creating the line where you will wrap the hair underneath its self.

3. Wrap hair to create a small bun underneath hair.

4. Fasten with bobby pins.

5. Repeat with all three sections.

6. Loose pieces of hair in the front or layers can be worked into a braid or a twist to add detail.

7. Accessorize with hairpieces if desired.

American Indian inspired

What you need: curling iron, hair bands, teasing comb and hair spray

1. Curl the whole head in loose waves, not tight curls.

2. Use hair spray to hold waves.

3. Brush hair out gently with a square paddle brush. This brush should not remove curls.

4. Use hair spray again.

5. Divide hair into two sections as if for pigtails.

6. Take a teasing comb and gently tease half the head of hair at once to give volume.

7. Divide half hair into three uneven sections and fasten each section with elastic bands close to the end of the hair.

8. Add braids to loose layers or accessories if desired.
