MANHATTAN — Scorching summer temperatures resulted in four deaths across Manhattan in late July, the city medical examiner said Wednesday.

Over a four-day period from July 22-25, two men and two women died from exposure to high heat and other underlying conditions, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner said.

The intense heat claimed a 78-year-old man on July 22, a 73-year-old woman and 60-year-old man on July 24 and a 48-year-old woman on July 25.

The temperature reached 104 degrees on July 22 during last month’s heat wave, with high temperatures not falling below 80 degrees through the end of the month.

The deaths bring the toll of heat-related deaths this summer to 19 citywide, the medical examiner added.
