Man Killed by 'A' Train at West 4th Street Updated August 7, 2011 6:10pm

MANHATTAN — A man was struck and killed by a train in a tunnel near a Greenwich Village subway station Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The man, in his 50s, was just north of the West 4th Street station, at Sixth Avenue, at 3:15 p.m. when he was hit by the southbound A train, according to the MTA.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not clear if there was any criminality in the incident.

A and C trains were being routed over the D line during the investigation.
