LOWER MANHATTAN — The World Trade Center will test its emergency notification system Thursday.

Passersby may hear high-pitched beeps followed by a message over a loudspeaker between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Port Authority said.

Construction will continue during the tests and workers will not evacuate the site.
