GREENWICH VILLAGE — Beer lovers looking to enjoy fresh suds from the comfort of their homes will cheer news that "The Growler Station" has leased space in Greenwich Village.

The shop, which will sell growlers — typically half-gallon glass jugs of beer — has signed a 10-year lease for the lower level and basement at 26 W. 8th St., the Tuesday announcement by brokerage company Buchbinder & Warren said.

In addition to "numerous varieties of domestic and microbrews," the store boasts a "unique tap system which reduces the air and head and enhances the quality and freshness of the beer."

The store will also offer "complimentary groceries," it said in a press release.

The Growler Station's Facebook page said the store is expected to open in fall 2011.
