MIDTOWN — The owner of Chocolate Bar in the West Village is opening a bakery just around the corner from the Eighth Avenue store, according to Grub Street.

Alison Nelson — who initially opened the shop in 2002 and then moved to an ill-fated East Village location — told Grub Street the new bakery is due to open in the fall under the name Doughboy.

"The name celebrates the famous World War One 'Doughboy' statue in Abingdon Square Park," Nelson told the website.

While the exact location is still under wraps, West Villagers shouldn't be surprised to see the new venture popup somewhere opposite the park, which is located at Hudson and West 11th streets.

The bakery will be offering the usual suspects such as breads, cupcakes, pies, sandwiches and custom cakes.

With Chocolate Bar going strong pushing premium chocolate, Doughboy is sure to give the nearby Magnolia Bakery some sweet competition.

The West Village Chocolate Bar shut briefly in 2008, but reopened in another location in 2009.
