TRIBECA — A man riding a bicycle on Canal Street was injured after being struck by a silver Jaguar Monday afternoon, fire officials and witnesses said.

The unidentified man, whose age was unclear, was hit after turning onto Canal Street from West Broadway at roughly 5:31 p.m., the FDNY said. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, fire officials said, and his condition was not immediately clear.

A 21-year-old student from Washington Heights, who only gave his name as Moe, was sitting in Tribeca Bagels when he heard a screech of tires. He went outside and saw the bloodied man lying in the street.

"We saw him lying on the ground like a rag doll," he said.

The Jaguar was still at the scene late Monday afternoon. Its front windshield was cracked and its sunroof was shattered.

Traffic on Canal Street was briefly halted while police investigated the scene.
