DOWNTOWN — A South Street car crash left eight people hurt early Tuesday, fire officials said.

The collision left a yellow cab and an SUV "locked together" on South Street at Rutgers Slip at about 9 a.m., the FDNY said.

The eight occupants had to be removed from the cars by firefighters.

They were taken to Bellevue Hospital. They are not thought to have life threatening injuries.
