GREENWICH VILLAGE — Broadway's coming to the Village Friday.
"The Importance of Being Earnest," a Roundabout Theatre Company production that's received acclaim from critics around the world, will be shown to Greenwich Village audiences via the big screen.
A taped performance of the Oscar Wilde production, starring drag-dressing Tony Award winner Brian Bedford as Lady Bracknell, will be offered to audiences in HD thanks to the New York-based company, "BY Experience."
The viewing of the play, a piece that Roundabout Theater Company calls "a comedic masterpiece about class, courtship and good old-fashioned name dropping," will be shown at the NYU Skirball Center as part of a world tour of the screening.
The news of the movie showing comes after the theater company's announcement earlier this year that the Broadway run will be extended due to its extreme popularity and high demand.
The show, originally slated to end in early May, will see its last performance on June 26.
