UPPER WEST SIDE — A delivery truck pumping oil into the basement of a Broadway building leaked Thursday, flooding part of West 68th Street with nearly 150 gallons of the fuel.

FDNY Deputy Chief Joseph Carlsen said the liquid spilled from the truck as it was being poured into a basement tank at 1995 Broadway.

Another 20 gallons filled the basement, he said.

The mess forced police to close West 68th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue to traffic as Hazmat crews and Department of Environmental Protection units moved in to clean it up.

Part of the street was also closed to pedestrians.

Carlsen said the street wasn't expected to reopen until after 7 p.m. Thursday.
