MANHATTAN — Actor and global humanitarian Sean Penn was in Manhattan Tuesday lending his star power to the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of "Love Hate Love."

The much-anticipated documentary, for which Penn is an executive producer, profiles three families whose lives have been profoundly changed by terrorist attacks. What unites the families is that they've been able to channel their grief towards helping others.

Penn was joined by the film's subjects, who met for the first time at the festival, and Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Robert De Niro for the event, which was held at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.

In Chelsea, at the SVA Theater, "Regis and Kelly" host Kelly Ripa, along with husband and soap opera star Mark Consuelos, participated in a panel discussion about the documentary "Off the Rez."

Ripa and Consuelos served as executive producers for the film, which follows a Native American high school basketball star as she strives to become the first person from her reservation to receive a college scholarship.

The film's subject, Shoni Schimmel, and her mother and coach Cecilee Moses were also in attendance.

Also at the SVA Theater, "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin held a public discussion with filmmaker Doug Liman. Baldwin served as interviewer during the talk with Liman, who created blockbusters like "The Bourne Identity" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
