MIDTOWN — Midtown was treated to a special delivery Wednesday evening when a baby boy was born in a cab at a busy intersection.

A 42-year-old mother gave birth to a healthy baby boy in a taxi on the northwest corner of West 51st Street and Seventh Avenue about 7:26 p.m. Wednesday, FDNY and police said.

The baby and mother were brought to Roosevelt Hospital and both were doing fine, FDNY said.

An officer at the scene said both paramedics and police responded to the incident, and West 51st Street was temporarily blocked to traffic as they transported the mother and the baby into an ambulance.

A worker in an electronics shop across the street said that throngs of tourists  crowded around the ambulance to snap pictures of the mom and baby.
