HELL'S KITCHEN — A local reverend will be the Grand Marshal of this year's NYC Pride Parade.
Senior Rev. Pat Bumgardner of the Metropolitan Community Church of New York will preside over the 42nd Annual LGBT Pride March on June 26.
"I am very honored by the opportunity to serve as a Grand Marshall in this year's New York City Pride Parade," she said in an email.
Dan Savage and partner Terry Miller, who created the "It Gets Better" campaign in the wake of Rutgers freshman Tyler Clementi's suicide to give hope to LGBT youth, will also join the Rev. at the march.
"We are thrilled at the opportunity of hosting such inspiring leaders of LGBT marriage equality, community service, and youth self-assurance," said Mike Dunlap, 2011 NYC Pride March director, in a statement.
The MCCNY, located at 446 W. 36th Street, serves the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and is open to all.
The theme of this year's march is "Proud and Powerful." The march will start at noon at 36th Street and 5th Avenue and end at Christopher Street and Greenwich streets.
