MANHATTAN —Millions of Manhattanites who travel via the Port Authority Bus Terminal and the AirTrain are vulnerable to terror strikes, according to the New York Daily News.

In a letter to state lawmakers, Port Authority union chief Robert Morris highlighted an unguarded road underneath the 42nd Street bus terminal, a source told the Daily News.

"Anyone can drive any type of vehicle under the [bus terminal] without check," Morris, who is vice president of the PA's Police Benevolent Association, wrote, according to the Daily News.

The George Washington Bridge and Lincoln and Holland tunnels were also called out in Morris' letter for low staffing, the Daily News reported.

A Port Authority union chief issued a warning that the 5 million passengers who take AirTrain to JFK each year could be vulnerable to terror attacks.

At a state Senate hearing Friday, Morris called patrols and guarding on the AirTrain rail line that runs to John F. Kennedy Airport woefully insufficient, the Daily News reported.

"It's unmanned and unpoliced," Morris said, according to the Daily News. "It's just a bad situation."

In order to keep AirTrain safe, Morris said the PA should operate 1,095 annual police tours along the eight mile route —as opposed to the 40 patrols conducted over the past year, according to the Daily News.

However, the PA contested Morris' claims, the News reported.

"The way the Port Authority Police Department is deployed, as well as security cameras and the entirety of our security apparatus, means the riding public should feel safe within all of the Port Authority facilities," the PA said in a statement to the Daily News.
