MANHATTAN — Medical marijuana may be legal in 15 states, but a massive pot delivery to a Chinatown dental office Friday was very illegal — and unexpected, according to the New York Post.

A UPS deliveryman brought 31 pounds of pot to Dr. Toothy's Dental Office on Worth Street Friday afternoon, the Post reported.

Orthodontist Richard Lyons at first didn't understand what he was unpacking, according to the Post. The distinctive smell, partially masked by layers of liquid soap and baby wipes, tipped him off.

"It smelled so bad," Lyons told the Post. "I just wanted it out of here… that's dangerous stuff."

After calling the NPYD, Lyons, who called himself "the king of Chinatown" while speaking to the Post, denied having ordered the marijuana.

The sender, Gwendaline Lyons, shares his surname — but Lyons maintains he's never heard of her, according to the Post. The return address was in the small Texas town of Katy.

Cops on the scene expressed shock at the sheer quantity of weed, which has an estimated street value of $45,000, the Post reported.

One officer wore a face mask to block out the stench of the marijuana, according to the Post.

"I got a headache just standing next to it," he told the Post.

For his part, Lyons expressed frustration to the Post.

"My reaction is disgust that the drug-enforcement agencies and all the different agencies couldn't seize this," he said to the paper. "I am not worried about anybody or any repercussions."
