TRIBECA — A new Edward Burns film about TriBeCa will make its world premiere on the closing night of the TriBeCa Film Festival, organizers announced Monday.

"Newlyweds" follows a young couple as they confront unexpected challenges, including reappearing exes and family crises. The entire film — which Burns wrote, directed and starred in — takes place in TriBeCa.

"TriBeCa is my home in every sense — it’s where I live, and it’s also the place where I have been so proud to show my work," Burns said in a statement. "And from the beginning, the festival has been a wonderful place for me to showcase my films and enjoy the kinds of conversations that I love as a filmmaker and a New Yorker."

Burns announced in February that he was changing the title of the film from "Newlyweds" to "Triangles Below Canal," but he and the producers ultimately decided to stick with the original title.

Burns turned to Twitter for suggestions frequently while making the $9,000 film, and now he is asking his fans to submit movie posters and vote on which one they like best. Burns is still accepting poster submissions for another week.

Burns has said "Newlyweds" is a companion piece to "Sidewalks of New York," his 2001 film that followed six New Yorkers through difficult relationships.

In addition to Burns, "Newlyweds" will star Caitlin Fitzgerald, Max Baker, Marsha Dietlein Bennett and Kerry Bishé. The premiere will be held at the Borough oF Manhattan Community College's Tribeca Performing Arts Center.

Single tickets for the Tribeca Film Festival go on sale to American Express cardholders April 12, to downtown residents April 17 and to the general public April 18.
