GREENWICH VILLAGE — A Village company lost nearly $170,000 in film equipment last week after the equipment was apparently stolen from someone who rented it, police said.

Abel Cine Tech, at 609 Greenwich St., rented out a $90,000 camera and three $26,000 lenses on March 10 to a group that planned to shoot a movie in SoHo the following day, police said.

The filmmakers loaded the equipment into a van and parked it overnight at 1 Morningside Drive on the Upper West Side, police said. Early the next morning, the filmmakers drove the van down to their shooting location, 40 Renwick St. in SoHo, and discovered the equipment was gone.

The stolen equipment includes an ARRI Alexa Digital Cinema Camera and 75 mm, 50 mm and 35 mm lenses by the same brand, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477), text TIP577 to CRIMES (274637) or visit the website.
