MANHATTAN — Archbishop Timothy Dolan is probably a Yankees fan.
In an interview with "60 Minutes" reporter Morley Safer, Dolan said his chances of becoming the first American Pope were as unlikely as the Mets winning the World Series, the Daily News reported.
Safer asked Dolan about the possible promotion in an interview set to air this coming Sunday on CBS, the News reported.
"The people that say that, Morley, also think the Mets are going to win the World Series," Dolan reportedly said.
"So ... I wouldn't put too much credibility in that one," he said.
Dolan also discussed the ongoing sex abuse scandals in the Catholic Church, and the perception that church officials failed to address the issue of pedophilia, the paper reported.
"I'd say there's some truth in that," Dolan said to Safer. "You'd think that the church ... would know better."
Dolan became Archbishop of New York in 2009; he previously served as the Archbishop of Milwaukee.
