CHINATOWN — A body was pulled out of the East River in lower Manhattan early Wendesday morning, the FDNY said.

The U.S. Coast Guard responded to Rutgers Street at the East River about 8 a.m. and took the unidentified man to the Sanitation Department's pier nearby, a witness and the FDNY said.

The body was badly decomposed and the man's age has not been determined, police said.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.
