Police Hunt Suspect in East Village ATM Assault

EAST VILLAGE — The police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted and then robbed a woman Wednesday after she went to use an East Village Chase Bank ATM.
The suspect followed the woman to the ATM at 15th Street and First Avenue about 6:40 a.m., threw her to the ground and then threatened to shoot her, police said. The man then allegedly took her purse and fled.
The suspect is described as a black man about 5-feet-9-inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a navy blue winter hat, a dark waist-length jacket and dark colored jeans.
