MANHATTAN — You may not want to wear these UGGs in a snowstorm.

UGG Australia has released $800 special edition boots encrusted with Swarovski crystals in the shape of the Manhattan skyline, including the Empire State Building, according to FashionHerald.org, a blog run by the 34th Street Partnership.

The New York City boots are only carried at the UGG store's Madison Avenue, Upper West Side and SoHo locations, a spokesperson said. UGG produced a small amount of the boots which first went on sale in the last few weeks.

Although a salesperson at the store on Madison Avenue at 58th Street said the sparkly kicks were selling well, with five pairs walking out the door in the last two weeks, the boots didn't seem to be on the shopping lists of UGG shoppers on Wednesday.

"I think it's mad in the [economic] climate today. You'd get mugged for them," said Sarah Schlick, 40, outside the store.

Another shopper called the boots "ridiculous."

"I can't even think of a word to describe crystal on boots," Liz Holloway, a visitor from England, said.

The city-themed UGGs are being rolled out in other locations including Miami, L.A. and Las Vegas.

This isn't the first time the ubiquitous shoes have had a designer makeover, last year the maker released special edition Jimmy Choo UGGs, which cost between $595 and $795 according to TorontoLife.com.
