HARLEM — Alleged baby kidnapper Ann Pettway was formally indicted in Manhattan Federal Court Thursday, according to court papers.

Pettway, 44, is accused of kidnapping Carlina White, 23, from Harlem Hospital when White was just 19 days old. Pettway then allegedly raised White as her own child in Bridgeport, Conn., under the alias Nejdra Nance.

White become suspicious that she was not Pettway's child, and after searching the Internet for evidence, came across a picture of a kidnapped child on the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children that turned out to be her.

White was reunited with her family in January.

Ann Pettway has been charged with the 1987 kidnapping of Carlina White from Harlem Hospital.
