EAST VILLAGE — A man severed two of his fingertips on East 5th Street Thursday morning, the fire department said.

Emergency units received a call at 10:39 a.m. of a man injured at 200 E. 5th Street, at the corner of Cooper Square, which is home to the Evelyn and Louis A. Green senior center, the FDNY said.

The man was transported to Bellevue Hospital in unknown condition, fire sources added.

An employee at the location declined to comment on the situation and could not confirm where exactly the incident occurred.

The senior center's manager did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
