TRIBECA — A woman visiting from Puerto Rico had her debit card stolen while she was celebrating her birthday in TriBeCa in January, police said.

The 31-year-old victim left her debit card in her room at the Smyth Hotel at 85 West Broadway, about 4 p.m. Jan. 20 while she went to her birthday party, police said.

She didn’t notice the card was missing until Bank of America called her the following day to alert her to $4,466 in unusual charges, which she told police were unauthorized.

The hotel is conducting its own investigation about who had access to the room, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477), text TIP577 to CRIMES (274637) or visit the website.
