LOWER MANHATTAN — A man who used a forged credit card to try to buy two iPads was arrested last week at J&R, police said.
The man used the fake card to buy a $499 16GB iPad and a $729 32GB iPad at the Park Row electronics store about 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 23, police said.
The purchase went through, but the cashier noticed that the name on the receipt was Asian, while the customer was African American, police said. A security guard examined the credit card and discovered that it was fake, police said.
Police arrested Kenny Henry, 45, a Manhattan resident, and charged him with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a forged instrument, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal complaint.
