MANHATTAN —The fugitive suspected of snatching a baby and raising her as her own for 23 years is expected to be arraigned on federal kidnapping charges Monday, a day after she turned herself into the FBI.

Ann Pettway. 44, called police at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday and arranged to surrender from a relative's home in Stratford, Connecticut, Det. Keith Bryant of Bridgeport Police Department told DNAinfo.

"She did call police and she is now in custody," he said.

She was alone when officers arrived at the house and arrested her.

She is expected to appear in Manhattan Federal Court Monday to face kidnapping charges.

Her surrender came a day after she was reportedly seen in a Connecticut pawn shop trying to sell a laptop computer and jewelry.

Ann Pettway, the woman who raised a kidnapped Harlem baby, was seen Saturday in Connecticut, according to a report.

Pettway is suspected of snatching Carlina White, now 23, when she was a 19-day-old baby being treated for a high fever in Harlem Hospital.

SHe is thought to have dressed as a nurse and taken the baby in the middle of the night.

White tracked down her birth parents, Joy White and Carl Tyson, after becoming suspicious of Pettway's claims that she was her legal guardian.

She was reunited with her real mom and dad last weekend after DNA testing confirmed her suspicions.

Pettway disappeared from her Raleigh, NC, home when she learned about Carlina's reunion.

"I commend the swift and efficient work of the FBI and the NYPD in this important case," said Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara.
