LOWER MANHATTAN — A female mugger snatched an elderly woman’s purse and knocked her to the ground as she was trying to get into a downtown subway station earlier this month, police said.

Police released a video Tuesday that shows the Jan. 4 attack in the Fulton Street subway stop downtown.

The 81-year-old victim was swiping her MetroCard at Fulton and Church streets about 10:40 p.m. when the attacker approached her from behind, yanked away her handbag, sent her sprawling, and then fled, police said.

The victim was taken to New York Downtown Hospital with a fractured left shoulder and a cut on her forehead, police said.

Police described the attacker as being 25-to-30-years-old, 5-foot-11 and 190 to 200 lbs. In the video, the suspect was wearing a baseball cap, black jeans, a black jacket and black boots.
