MANHATTAN — Seattle-based coffee chain Starbucks, which has 182 locations in Manhattan, is getting a fresh look — a new version of their signature siren logo.

The ubiquitous chain that fuels the caffeine needs of the Manhattan work force is celebrating its 40th anniversary by unveiling the new logo, a slight modification of the current one.

The replacement is a mint green-colored version of the old image, without the words "Starbucks Coffee" surrounding the graphic.

But New Yorkers should not expect to notice the change immediately.

"The new brand expression will co-exist with our current one for some time," the company reported on its website, adding the first changes to "promotional merchandise and paper goods" will not appear until March.

"Hard signage and other fixtures will be updated when possible according to current remodel schedules," added a company spokesperson.

The logo has not been modified since 1992, when Starbucks became a publicly traded company, according to an image timeline on its website.

The siren, as described by the company, was "originally derived from a twin-tailed siren in an old sixteenth-century Norse woodcut."

There are about 300 Starbucks stores in total in the New York Metro region.
