MANHATTAN — For the city’s car owners sweating while shoveling mounds of snow off of their vehicles, the city is offering a temporary reprieve: Alternate side parking regulations have been suspended for Tuesday.

City agencies are suspending the parking rules and parking meter regulations to facilitate snow removal.

At a press conference on Monday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg emphatically discouraged driving in the aftermath of the 20-inch snowstorm. He also pleaded with New Yorkers to not shovel the snow from their cars into streets that had already been plowed.

The parking suspension didn’t stop New Yorkers from racing to unbury their cars.

Entrepreneurs with shovels seized the day, with one Craigslist poster is offering to dig out Upper East Siders's cars for $200 a pop while another duo are selling their services citywide for the more affordable $35 per car.

Several New Yorkers posted ads seeking help digging, including one SoHo retailer with 20-feet of sidewalk space and a simple plea: “I have a bad back.” The shopkeeper offered $20.
