Police are hunting a man they believe stabbed his East Harlem girlfriend multiple times before spending more than a week on the run.

The NYPD confirmed they are looking for Charles Taylor, 18.

They believe he stabbed Shele Wilkins, 18, with a kitchen knife during a dispute at the River Crossing apartments, on First Avenue, on Friday last week.

Her family told DNAinfo he was behind the attack, and has been stalking her on Facebook ever since. Police declined to name him as a suspect until Friday.

Wilkins' mother told DNAinfo Saturday it was a relief that he had finally been named.

"Thank God," said Glenda Mabry, 44. "I was like, what's going on?"

She said her daughter was at home, and terrified that her boyfriend would approach her.

Glenda Mabry said her daughter, Shele Wilkins, was stabbed multiple times by her boyfriend last Friday.

"She's scared," said Mabry. "She's scared when the phone rings and someone knocks on the door.

"They don't have no police up here or nothing. They just told her go home and stay in the house. He has to be around here somewhere."

Mabry said Taylor had been contracting her daughter on Facebook, and called her trying to meet up.

He allegedly stabbed her several times in the body and face. She was released from the hospital a few days later.
