MANHATTAN — Five teenager girls had Manhattan traffic at a standstill for more than hour Wednesday evening after they ran into the New Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel as part of a strange prank, a Port Authority spokesman said.

The girls didn’t make it far before being caught by tunnel police, but they managed to stop traffic from 5:45 p.m. until 6:46 p.m., much to the chagrin of commuters.

"Thank you to the dou***bag kids who thought they could WALK through the Lincoln tunnel causing traffic to stop & me to probably miss my show," tweeted @flickchik.

The Port Authority said the girls were not charged with trespassing, though they did face the wrath of having their parents have to pick them up from police.

"Right we saw a bunch of people trying to run into the lincoln tunnel [sic] and now we have been at a standstill for 30," tweeted @HB_Barb. "Kind of creepy right?"
