MIDTOWN — Seventh Avenue in Midtown was shut down Wednesday evening after a ninth-floor window cracked in an office building, according to the FDNY.

Police closed Seventh Avenue between 50th and 49th streets shortly after 5 p.m. out of precaution, the FDNY said.

Officials also closed two blocks of 49th Street, between both Sixth and Seventh avenues, and Seventh Avenue and Broadway.

The downtown and uptown sides of the N, R and Q subway stop on the corner of 49th St. and Seventh Avenue was also roped off.

As of 6:50 p.m., FDNY were busy trying to bring the window into the building, and no debris from the window had yet fallen to the ground, officials said.

Police tape surrounded the building, but no evacuation was called for, according to FDNY.

People who worked in the building reported that it was shaking from the wind gusts. A wind advisory warning went into effect Wednesday through Thursday due to wind gusts of up to 50 MPH, according to AccuWeather.com.
