MANHATTAN — After a three-year inquiry, the Department of Education cleared a former Manhattan High School principal of charges he changed test scores, the New York Post reported.

John Angelet, the former principal of Bayard Rustin High School in Chelsea, had been accused of changing or ordering his administration to change 2006 and 2007 Regents test scores, the paper reported.

Despite Angelet's exoneration, some staff members maintain they re-graded and changed a "large group" of social studies and science tests from failing to passing, according to the Post.

Angelet retired from the F-rated school in February. Bayard Rustin is in the process of being phased out by the city.
