CENTRAL PARK — Let the canine games begin.

As many as 8,000 dog owners and pooches are expected to converge on Central Park on Saturday for the annual My Dog Loves Central Park Country Fair.

The fair, co-hosted by Central Park Paws and the Central Park Conservancy,  runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Naumburg Bandshell, which is mid-park near 72nd Street.

Attractions include a casting call for "stupid pet tricks" for "The Late Show With David Letterman," games where dogs can test their agility and obedience, and a booth where vets will answer questions.

Pups will compete in a "best in park" competition featuring celebrity judges such as Prince Lorenzo Borghese, the former star of the television show "The Bachelor."

New this year is the children's corner, which will promote safe, friendly interactions between dogs and young people.

"My Dog Loves Central Park Country Fair is a great example of the relationship New Yorkers — and their dogs — have with Central Park," said Central Park Conservancy spokeswoman Kari Wethington in e-mail.

"It's the city's backyard; from lounging in the meadows to walking in the woodlands, there's something here for everyone, human and canine alike."
