MANHATTAN —The State Board of Election has extended their deadline for accepting absentee ballots from soldiers serving overseas by nine days, City Board of Elections spokeswoman Valerie Vazquez said Friday.

The extension, which applies to all military and non-military personnel living overseas, comes after the Board missed its deadline for mailing the applications by 10 days.

Some had raised fears that the delay would make it impossible for some ballots to make it make to New York in time to be counted.

All ballots must still be postmarked by Nov. 1.

The state has also launched a website where overseas voters can obtain ballots via email and fax or mail them in, Vazquez said.
